Tech giant, Xiaomi announced on Friday, 7th july, that it has shipped 23.16 million in the second quarter and is on its way to become world leading smartphone company. The quantity may not be massive as compared to other smartphone companies. Xiaomi increased sale by 70% comparing last year.
This happened after a constant struggle to increase such as investment in technology, integrating sales over online and offline networks. Additionally, the growth in markets led to this. Indian market led to an increase in demand for smartphone which was swept by Xiaomi.
The revenue from Indian Unit increased over 328% compared with last year.
According to CEO Lei Jun, this happened because of improved sales network and minimizing the inefficiencies.
Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun said in on a meeting on friday:
This achievement signifies a major inflection point in our growth — after two years of internal re-calibration, Xiaomi is once again embarking on a rapid growth trajectory,
Xiaomi now plan goals of shipping 100 million smartphones in 2017 and a revenue of $14.7 billion(100 billion Yuan).
Lei Jun realizes that expenditure on research and development has given an edge over its competitors and marketing strategy such as donation per phone sold to Shaukat Khaunum has indeed proven to be successful.
Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun also said:
Today’s accomplishment is not an easy feat. We offer our sincere gratitude to all of our Mi Fans for the trust they have placed in us over the years. We are grateful to our partners for their support, and especially to Xiaomi’s 13,000 employees and families for your dedication.
The smartphone market is brutally competitive, and we are only taking the first steps in our journey. In order to continue growing, we must keep true to our core values, and innovate relentlessly. We have to give our engineers the freedom to think outside of the box, and explore fearlessly without boundaries.
We set no limit when it comes to innovation and investment. In the next 12 months, we will need to hire thousands of R&D talent for our smartphone business and further bolster our innovation capabilities.
